3. WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO RECEIVE AN UPDATE ON THE STATUS OF MY APPLICATION?

4. DO I REQUIRE A POLICE CHECK TO WORK IN AGED CARE?

In order to work in Aged Care you will need a valid national police check/clearance certificate or willingness to obtain same.

5. WHAT WILL MY RATE OF PAY BE?

Our team are covered by the current Aged Care Award 2010 although our rates of pay are higher than the award. Copies of the Award can be found online. Click HERE for a copy of the current Aged Care Award.

6. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE DO I REQUIRE TO WORK IN AGED CARE?

Depending on the nature of the position that you are applying for, the requirements of the position will vary.

ACFI Coordinator

• Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a RN DIV 1.
• Tertiary qualifications directly related to Health/Aged Care Industry (desirable).
• Completion of the ACFI Appraiser TAFE Training.
• Extensive knowledge, understanding and working experience of ACFI.
• Relevant clinical experience within the Aged Care Sector.

Administration / Reception

• Superior Customer Service.
• Knowledge and experience in Aged Care (desirable).
• Experience with Payroll Systems.

Cleaning Assistants

• Previous experience as a cleaner working in Aged Care/Health setting (essential).
• Knowledge of cleaning products and the safe handling, storage and disposal of
chemicals, and use of cleaning equipment (essential).

Clinical Care Coordinator

• Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a RN DIV 1.
• Tertiary qualifications directly related to Health/Aged Care Industry (desirable).
• Strong understanding of ACFI and Accreditation.
• Extensive clinical experience within the Aged Care Sector approximately 5 years and proven track record at a similar level.

Diversional Therapist / Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinator

• Tertiary qualifications (desirable) directly related to Diversional Therapy Health/Aged Care Industry or Certificate IV in Leisure & Lifestyle or equivalent or undertaking studies toward this.
• Proven track record and expertise in program development and delivering recreational activities, music and craft therapy in an aged care environment.
• A current Senior First Aid certificate.

Enrolled Nurse

• Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Enrolled Nurse – with medication endorsement.
• A current practicing certificate with medication endorsement.
• A First Aid Certificate with Resuscitation techniques (desirable).
• Minimum of 2 years working experience in a similar role in an Aged Care Facility.

Food Service Assistants

• Hospitality front of house experience (desirable).
• Certificate in Food Handling (desirable).
• Basic kitchen knowledge and experience.

Head Chef

• Minimum Trade Certificate or Certificate 111 in Commercial Cookery.
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (essential).
• Sound knowledge and experience with HACCP and Food Safety.
• Demonstrated experience working as a Head Chef in the Aged Care Sector and or experience in either being part of running a restaurant.

Housekeeping Supervisor

• Previous experience working in a commercial laundry or cleaning service or aged
care services.
• Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work in a fast
paced environment.
• Ability to comply with safe work practices and manual handling practices.

Laundry Assistants

• Previous experience working in a commercial laundry or aged care laundry service.
• Basic level of numeracy and literacy.

Maintenance Officer

• Previous experience in property/grounds maintenance and building works preferably in Aged Care.
• Sound understanding of all legislative requirements pertaining to maintenance and repairs i.e. WH&S, Fire/Evacuation.
• Applicable trade qualification.

Personal Care Assistant

• Cert III or IV in Aged Care (mandatory).
• Current First Aid Certificate (desirable).

Registered Nurses

• Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a RN DIV 1.
• Tertiary qualifications directly related to Nursing/Health/Aged Care (desirable).
• Extensive clinical experience within the Aged Care Sector and proven track record at a similar role.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical assessments, care planning to accurately reflect assessed care needs of residents.

8. WHAT IS THE DISTINCTION BETWEEN LOW AND HIGH CARE?

There is no distinction between low and high care at Kewarra Aged Care.
Kewarra Aged Care will provide quality care, an engaging lifestyle and a sense of community for its residents to enjoy.
The home will offer permanent residential accommodation, concessional places, respite and
dementia specific services.

9. ELIGIBILITY AND RIGHT TO WORK

Kewarra Aged Care employees must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid permit or visa. Should your application progress, you will be asked to provide supporting documentation.

10. WHEN IS THE FACILITY SCHEDULED TO OPEN?

The Kewarra Aged Care Facility is scheduled to open in August 2017.
